This site has found a new direction and intends to help deal with the very rapid changes taking place now within societies everywhere. I believe there is hope for the future of humanity if we stay centered and resolutely avoid conflict and violence starting within ourselves.

Before the digital revolution

Depending on your age if you were alive before the digital revolution ,that is the 1980-90’s you will remember when camera film for your photographs, cassette tapes for your audio and video players and going to your local printers for your business cards.

Photography

It’s quite hard to conceive that millions of us took photographs with cameras that used film, whether black and white or colour. When those photos got processed and you collected your snaps from the chemist or in the post you could very well be utterly disappointed with the results. I can remember being excited to see my latest 36 shots from my 35mm slr camera and throwing every print pus the negatives away in disgust. Well now of course we just delete our digital images not long after actualy taking them, which is good of course but the downside is we can take so many shots that we forget what is being stored on our devices. We’ve taken it all for granted and somehow the art of photography for the amateur at least, has been lessened.

Audio cassettes and VHS were before the advent of the digital revolution

Did you own a Walkman audio cassette player? I loved mine. I used to record music concerts off the radio on to a quality blank cassette tape and then go out with my Walkman and headphones . It was a great introduction to having a personal sound system direct to your ears whilst you went about the world.

Then we got the breakages or unravelling of the tape. Oh that was fun wasn’t it. But somehow we fixed it and we carried on. Video tape was the same but we just accepted it. Remember the video stores that hired out film, concerts and documentary titles . I was sad to see the vcr players go. Of course digital started to appear in the form of cd’s and dvd’s and it wasn’t long before it was the end of an era for tape recorded media. Having said that i was intrigued to read recently about a revival of audio cassette. Vinyl has had it’s revival for a while now of course.
